  • 2 tbsp. raw cane sugar
  • 120 ml lukewarm water
  • 170 ml oat milk or vegetable milk
  • 2 tbsp. rapeseed oil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 450 g flour

Patties

  • 2 cans kidney beans
  • 6 tbsp. fine oat flakes
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika powder
  • 1 tsp. coriander
  • 1/2 tsp. cumin
  • 1 tsp raw cane sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 lettuce
  • 6 onions
  • 8 tbsp. barbecue sauce

Fries

  • 1500 g potatoes
  • 5 tbsp rapeseed oil
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika powder
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • approx. 3 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp thyme

Method

Step 1- The buns

  • Slowly mix the yeast and the 2 tbsp raw cane sugar with 120 ml lukewarm water and let it rest for at least 5 min.
  • Add 170 ml oat milk and 2 tbsp rapeseed oil and mix slowly again.
  • In a large bowl, mix 1 tsp salt with 450 g flour and slowly add the yeast mixture and knead until the dough is smooth. You can do this with your hands or with a hand mixer with dough hook. If the dough is too wet (sticky) you can add a little flour as needed.
  • Cover the dough with a damp tea towel and let it rise for about 1 hour.
  • Spread a little flour on your work surface and put the dough on it and knead the dough briefly with your hands.
  • Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and form into balls. Let them rise again under a kitchen towel for 30 minutes.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C top and bottom heat for 15 - 18 min.

Step 2- The fries

  • Peel the potatoes, wash them and cut them into french fries size.
  • In a large bowl, mix together 5 tbsp rapeseed oil, 1 tsp smoked paprika, 2 tsp sugar, about 3 tsp salt and 1 tsp thyme, then toss the raw fries in it and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake at 200 °C for 25-35 min (depending on the thickness of the fries).

Step 3- Prepare burger

  • Wash the lettuce and drain well.
  • Remove the peel from 6 onions and cut them into thin rings.
  • Then fry them in a pan with a little oil until they are golden and soft. Then set them aside in a bowl.
  • Cut the burger buns in half and top each with a lettuce leaf.

Step 4- The patties

  • Remove the water from 2 cans of kidney beans, rinse and drain.
  • Mix the kidney beans together with 6 tbsp fine rolled oats, 2 tsp smoked paprika, 1 tsp ground coriander seeds, 1/2 tsp cumin, 1 tsp raw cane sugar and 2 tsp salt and blend with a blender.
  • Form 8 patties from the mixture and fry in a pan with a little oil until brown on both sides.

Step 5- Build your burger

  • Now place the finished patties on the prepared buns, spread the onions and put 1 tablespoon of barbecue sauce on each.
  • Now you can enjoy your homemade burgers with fries.

Enjoy your meal!
